Academia Quintana vs Caguas Sporting

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — The 2026 Liga Puerto Rico season kicks off Saturday with a compelling Week 1 clash between Academia Quintana and Caguas Sporting at Parque de Fútbol Juan César Cordero Dávila.

The home side, Academia Quintana, enters with momentum from a strong close to its previous campaign, including a 1-0 victory over Puerto Rico Surf last Dec. 13. Acad Quintana also posted high-scoring road wins at San Juan (3-2) and DS Edusoccer (7-1) last September.

Caguas Sporting, however, carries the psychological edge from the most recent head-to-head meeting, a 3-2 home victory last Aug. 13. Sporting’s form has been inconsistent, following a 4-0 road loss to Puerto Rico Surf with a 2-1 home win over Metropolitan just Friday.

Statistical projections for the match present a stark contradiction. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a narrow 1-0 victory for the visiting Caguas Sporting. Conversely, the same outlet’s ELO rating system heavily favors Acad Quintana, assigning the hosts a 78.60% probability to win.

The matchup promises tactical intrigue. Acad Quintana will look to leverage its home-field advantage and offensive firepower demonstrated in last season’s finale. Caguas Sporting aims to build on its recent win and replicate its successful result against this same opponent from August.

Saturday’s contest opens a demanding stretch for Caguas Sporting, which is scheduled to host PR Sol on Sunday in a quick turnaround.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. local time at the Juan César Cordero Dávila Football Park in the capital.
