ZAGREB, Croatia (Interstat) — A pivotal clash in Croatia’s top youth league sees first-place Dinamo Zagreb U19 host rival Rijeka U19 on Wednesday in a 1. HNL Juniori match.

Dinamo Zagreb (19-3-9) sits atop the table and has been dominant in the domestic competition, suffering only three losses in 31 matches. Their form, however, was dented in a surprising 1-0 defeat to Cibalia U19 in their last outing on Oct. 14. Prior to that, they were unbeaten in four consecutive league matches.

Rijeka (13-7-13) enters the Week 24 contest looking to improve its .500 record and upset the league leaders. The visitors are coming off a 1-1 draw with Varazdin U19 on Sept. 20 and have drawn their last two matches. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, with recent results including a 3-2 win, a 2-0 loss, and an 11-0 victory.

The head-to-head history between the two sides adds intrigue. Their most recent meeting on March 29 ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw. However, Dinamo Zagreb handed Rijeka a decisive 4-0 defeat in the fixture prior to that in September 2024.
