Germany, Belgium Play to 3‑3 Draw in Köln Friendly After Late Equalizer
KÖLN, Germany (Interstat) — Germany and Belgium played to a 3-3 draw in an international friendly Wednesday at RheinEnergieStadion.
Belgium’s Yannick Ferreira Carrasco opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Niclas Füllkrug equalized for Germany just before halftime. Romelu Lukaku Menama restored Belgium’s lead early in the second half, and Kevin De Bruyne extended it in the 78th minute.
Germany mounted a late comeback, with Serge Gnabry scoring in the 87th minute off a Kevin Schade assist to secure the draw. The result, organized by the Friendlies of Friendlies in World, defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Germany to win.
