Sogndal vs AaB

Preview: AaB, Sogndal Set for Winter Friendly in Spain

OLIVA, Spain (Interstat) — Danish side AaB and Norwegian club Sogndal will conclude their 2025 calendars with an off-season club friendly at the neutral Oliva Nova Golf & Beach Resort Campo 1 on Tuesday.

The match, part of a winter training camp series, offers both teams a chance to build fitness and evaluate players ahead of their respective domestic league restarts in the new year.

AaB enters the contest following a mixed bag of results in the Danish 1st Division. Their most recent outing was a 1-0 away defeat to Middelfart on Nov. 30. That loss snapped a positive run that included a 4-0 victory over the same opponent in September and a 4-0 win at Hvidovre in August. However, form has been inconsistent, with the team also suffering heavy defeats, including a 5-1 loss at Aarhus Fremad on Aug. 29.

Sogndal, of the Norwegian OBOS-ligaen, last played competitively on Sept. 21, falling 2-1 at home to Lyn. Their late-summer form was uneven, featuring a 5-1 home loss to Lillestrom on Sept. 13 but also a stretch of three wins in four matches across early August, including victories over Moss FK, Stabaek and Mjondalen.

The setting in coastal Spain is a departure for both clubs. Sogndal will be designated the home side for the fixture.

According to projections from Interstat, AaB holds a significant edge. The outlet’s ELO rating system gives AaB a 69.20 percent probability of winning. Its game simulator predicts a narrow 1-0 victory for the Danish club.

The friendly serves as a final tune-up before each team returns to domestic competition in January, with AaB pushing for promotion in Denmark and Sogndal aiming to climb the table in Norway.
