Randers vs Fredericia
RANDERS, Denmark (Interstat) — Randers FC opened its preseason schedule with a 2-1 comeback victory over FC Fredericia in a club friendly match Tuesday at Kunstgræsbanen AutoC Park.
The match, part of a global series of winter friendlies, saw the visiting side from Fredericia take an early lead before the Danish Superliga club rallied with two unanswered goals.
The scoring opened almost immediately, with Fredericia’s Esteban Lozano finding the net just two minutes after kickoff to stun the home crowd. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 12th minute when Edgar Guerra scored, putting Randers in an early two-goal deficit.
Randers began its fightback before halftime. A goal from an unspecified player — the second of the match — cut the deficit to 2-1 before the break. The decisive equalizer came in the 69th minute from substitute Facundo Almada, who finished a chance created by midfielder Alejandro Organista. Organista was credited with an assist on the play.
The match was a physical affair, with five yellow cards issued by the officiating crew. Fredericia’s Ángel Leyva, also a substitute, received a booking in the 36th minute, followed by Organista of Randers in the 40th. Fredericia’s Nicolás Díaz was cautioned in the 54th minute and teammate Kevin Velasco in the 67th. Randers midfielder Ignacio Maestro Puch, who recorded an assist in the game, received a yellow card in the 90th minute.
The result gave Randers a victory in its first outing of this friendly competition, improving its record to one win and no losses in the series. Fredericia dropped to no wins and one loss. In all competitions this season, which for Scandinavian clubs includes the previous autumn campaign, Randers now holds a record of one win and no losses, while Fredericia stands at no wins and one loss.
The outcome defied one pregame projection while confirming another. Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a 1-0 victory for Fredericia. However, the organization’s ELO rating system, which measures team strength, had heavily favored Randers, assigning the home side a 90.40 percent probability of winning.
The friendly served as a preparation match for both clubs as they continue their winter training periods ahead of the resumption of their respective domestic seasons.
