Late England Rally Earns Draw in U21 Friendly

DAWMAT AL-JANDAL, Saudi Arabia (Jan. 27, 2026) (Interstat) — England’s under-21 team salvaged a 1-1 draw with Croatia in a friendly Tuesday after a late goal from substitute Morgan Gibbs-White.

Croatia took control with two second-half goals. Martin Baturina opened the scoring in the 34th minute at Al Jawf University Stadium. Teammate Dion Drena Beljo doubled the lead in the 53rd.

Gibbs-White, who entered the match in the 62nd minute, pulled one back for England in the 87th minute to force the draw. The result defied a pregame projection that favored England with a 72% probability to win.

The match featured six yellow cards, four issued to Croatia. Both teams remain unbeaten in this competition, with Croatia at 1-0-1 and England at 0-1-1.
