Acambaro Holds Off Vaqueros Reynosa in Five-Goal Home League Contest

ACAMBARO, Guanajuato (Interstat) — Acambaro protected home advantage Sunday and defeated Vaqueros Reynosa 3-2 in a match that remained scoreless until the second half and was not settled until stoppage time. The home side scored first, saw the visitors equalize, regained the lead and then had to withstand a late goal from Vaqueros Reynosa. The result moved Acambaro to four wins and one loss in the competition and across all competitions, while Vaqueros Reynosa moved to one win and three losses in both categories.

The first half produced no goals, leaving both teams to adjust after the break. Acambaro broke through in the 51st minute, taking the lead and forcing Vaqueros Reynosa to respond. The visitors did so in the 59th minute, leveling the match and putting the home side back under pressure. Acambaro answered almost immediately. In the 63rd minute, the home team scored for the second time and reclaimed an advantage it would not surrender.

Vaqueros Reynosa remained within reach and pushed the match into stoppage time. The visitors scored in the third minute of stoppage time, cutting the deficit to one and setting up a tense final sequence. Acambaro held on through the remaining moments to secure the home victory. The late goal made the final margin 3-2 and ensured that Vaqueros Reynosa left with a close loss despite scoring twice after the break.

Acambaro entered the match after a run that included a 2-0 road win at Correcaminos II, a 6-0 road win at Halcones Negros, a 5-2 home win over Ciervos and a 3-2 road loss at Club Calor. Vaqueros Reynosa entered after a 0-1 home loss to Delfines Coatzacoalcos, a 2-4 home loss to Correcaminos II and a 2-1 road win at Apodaca. Acambaro had won three of its previous four competition matches, while Vaqueros Reynosa had one win in its previous three.

The home victory added to Acambaro’s strong record in the competition and overall. Acambaro has now won four of five matches in the competition and four of five across all competitions, with one loss in each. Vaqueros Reynosa has one win and three losses in the competition and the same record across all competitions. The visitors’ late goal gave them a second score on the day, but it was not enough to prevent Acambaro from taking the full result.

Acambaro’s scoring sequence reflected the balance of its recent results. The home side had scored multiple goals in each of its previous four competition matches, and it again found a way to produce more than one goal against Vaqueros Reynosa. Vaqueros Reynosa, meanwhile, had conceded at least four goals in one recent match and two in another, and it again had to chase after falling behind. The visitors’ reply in the 59th minute kept the game within reach, but Acambaro’s goal four minutes later restored the home side’s control. Vaqueros Reynosa’s stoppage-time goal made the finish tighter, but Acambaro managed the closing minutes well enough to protect the win.

Acambaro’s first goal came after a first half in which neither team scored. Vaqueros Reynosa’s equalizer in the 59th minute was followed by Acambaro’s second goal in the 63rd. The final goal came in the third minute of stoppage time, and the home side then closed out the result. The win kept Acambaro at four wins and one loss in the competition, while Vaqueros Reynosa stayed at one win and three losses.

Interstat’s game simulator had projected a final score of Acambaro 4, Vaqueros Reynosa 1, and Interstat’s ELO system had projected Acambaro with a 75.6 percent probability to win. Acambaro had been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1. The total score of 5 went over the over/under line of 3.5.
