NYON, Switzerland (Interstat) — Basel defeated host Stade Nyonnais 3-0 on Friday at Centre sportif de Colovray, using goals from Metinho, Zan Celar and Aaron Malouda to secure its first win of the competition. Metinho opened the scoring in the sixth minute, Celar doubled the lead in the 17th and Malouda added the final goal in the 86th. Basel finished with a 1-0 record in the competition and moved to 1-2 across all competitions. Stade Nyonnais fell to 0-1 in the competition and 1-1 overall. Yellow cards went to Basel’s Cisse in the 13th, Stade Nyonnais’ Akichi in the 19th, Basel’s Koloto in the 36th and Basel’s Michelin in the 45th plus one. Malouda was credited with one minute played and one goal, while Celar and Metinho each finished with a goal. Basel next hosts GC Zurich. Basel’s previous losses this season came against Vaduz and Winterthur.
