COBAN, Guatemala (Interstat) — Michael Moreira scored in the 45th minute and Steven Paredes added a goal in the 82nd as Coban Imperial beat Municipal 2-1 on Thursday at Estadio Verapaz Jose Angel Rossi. Pedro Altan pulled one back for Municipal in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Coban Imperial improved to 3-1-0 in Liga Nacional play and across all competitions, while Municipal fell to 7-2-3. Yellow cards went to Coban Imperial’s Cabrera in the 9th minute and Ical in the 10th, plus Municipal’s Samayoa in the 13th, Bantes in the 34th and Hernandez in the 40th. Both sides made halftime substitutions. Coban Imperial’s changes involved Ical and Rosas, while Municipal’s involved Hernandez, Elington and Bantes. Later substitutions included Winter and Aldana for Coban Imperial and Samayoa and Barrientos for Municipal, with Moreira also replaced in the 87th. Moreira and Paredes provided the scoring for the hosts, and Altan’s late goal was not enough for the visitors.
