Brusaporto beats Chievo with stoppage-time goal

BRUSAPORTO, Italy (Interstat) — Riccardo D’Antoni scored in the second minute of second-half stoppage time, and Brusaporto overcame a late red card to beat Chievo 2-1 on Wednesday in a football match that remained undecided until the final moments.

Chievo had taken the lead in the 25th minute when Manuel Martic scored. Martic was on the field for the full 90 minutes and gave the visitors an early advantage with a finish that quieted the home side. The goal came after a tense opening stretch in which both teams worked to establish control in midfield. Chievo tried to build on the lead, while Brusaporto looked for ways to increase the pace and create chances around the penalty area.

Brusaporto responded after the break by pushing more players forward and forcing Chievo to defend deeper. The home side kept possession for longer stretches and tried to stretch the visitors’ back line with passes into wide areas. Chievo, meanwhile, aimed to protect its advantage and slow the match when possible, clearing danger and looking to counter when Brusaporto committed numbers forward.

The match changed in the 72nd minute when Brusaporto’s Daffara was sent off. The red card left the home team with 10 men for the final stretch and appeared to give Chievo a clearer path to the win. Instead, Brusaporto continued to press, relying on quick transitions and set-piece opportunities to keep the visitors under pressure. Chievo tried to absorb the attacks and take time off the clock, but Brusaporto maintained its attacking intent.

Brusaporto’s breakthrough came in the 90th minute, plus two minutes of stoppage time, when D’Antoni scored the winner. D’Antoni played the full 90 minutes and delivered the decisive moment after Brusaporto kept the ball alive in the attacking third. The goal completed a comeback that had looked unlikely after the red card and gave the home side a dramatic victory.

The result moved Brusaporto to 1-0 in this competition and 5-2 across all competitions. Chievo fell to 0-1 in this competition and 4-2 across all competitions. For Brusaporto, the win added to a strong overall start that has included victories in several different settings. For Chievo, the loss was a frustrating setback in a season that had already produced four wins before Wednesday.

Chievo’s previous results in the season had included a 5-0 win over Tritium, a 2-0 loss at Nibbiano & Valtidone, a 2-1 win over SSD Virtus CiseranoBergamo, a 4-3 win at Rovato Vertovese SSD and a 1-0 win over Pavonese. Brusaporto had previously lost 1-0 to Pro Palazzolo, beaten Real Calepina 3-2, defeated Fiorenzuola 1-0, won 2-1 at Tritium and lost 2-0 at Leon. The teams entered the match with different recent rhythms, but the late drama overshadowed the earlier form.

Martic’s goal was his only score of the match, and he played the entire contest. D’Antoni’s goal was his only score, and he also went the distance. The two key performances came at opposite ends of the scoring sequence, with Martic giving Chievo an early lead and D’Antoni providing the final answer. Brusaporto’s defense held firm after the red card, while Chievo could not add a second goal despite its early advantage.

Brusaporto’s win gave the home side the full reward from a match that had swung in Chievo’s favor early. Chievo had the lead for much of the contest and had a man advantage after the dismissal, but it could not close out the result. Brusaporto stayed compact, kept working through the final minutes and found the goal that decided the match. The visitors were left to rue a missed opportunity to protect their advantage on the road.
