PLYMOUTH, England (Interstat) — Shannon McGregor scored in the second minute of second-half stoppage time as Celtic FC defeated Motherwell LFC 1-0 on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at Manadon Sports Hub in Plymouth, Devon. Celtic controlled much of the SWPL 1 match but needed McGregor’s late finish to secure the win. Celtic’s defense protected the one-goal lead. Poppy Jayne Lawson received a yellow card for Celtic in the 51st minute, while Leah Flora Sidey was booked for Motherwell in the 79th. The match was organized by SWPL 1 in Scotland. Motherwell dropped to 1-4 in the competition and overall. Celtic improved to 5-0 in SWPL 1 and across all competitions. The victory extended Celtic’s perfect start, while Motherwell remained on one win. Celtic is scheduled to host Motherwell again Sunday before visiting Rangers the following Sunday. Motherwell will next face Spartans WFC at home after its trip to Celtic.
