YEREVAN (Interstat) — Gevorg Tarakhchyan scored twice in the closing minutes to give Pyunik a 2-0 victory over Ararat on Thursday night at Vazgen Sargsyan anvan Hanrapetakan Marzadasht. Tarakhchyan broke the deadlock with a goal in the 82nd minute, then added an insurance tally in the third minute of second-half stoppage time. The result lifted Pyunik to a 1-0-1 record in the Armenian Premier League and across all competitions. Ararat fell to 0-1-1 in league play and overall. Pyunik’s previous league results included a 3-0 win over Van and a 2-2 draw at Urartu. Ararat entered Thursday’s match having beaten BKMA 2-1, then lost to Sardarapat 2-1 and Alashkert 3-0. Next up for Pyunik is a home match against Ararat-Armenia on Thursday, Aug. 27, and again on Sunday, Aug. 30, before traveling to Syunik on Sept. 3. Ararat will visit Noah on Thursday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 29, then play host to Ararat-Armenia on Sept. 3. Both teams continue their Armenian Premier League schedules.
