Vasas storms back late to stun Debreceni VSC 4‑2

DEBRECEN, Hungary (Interstat) — Vasas scored four unanswered goals, including two in second-half stoppage time, to beat Debreceni VSC 4-2 on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, in a Hungarian NB I match at Nagyerdei Stadion. The visitors trailed by two goals inside 10 minutes before completing a dramatic rally that stretched into the final moments of added time.

Debreceni VSC began with immediate pressure and was rewarded in the fourth minute when Ákos Szendrei scored. Six minutes later, Bence Batik made it 2-0, giving the home side a commanding early cushion. Vasas struggled to settle through the opening half, and the match grew chippier as Dániel Csóka was booked in the 21st minute and Sándor Hidi received a yellow card in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Vasas finally found a foothold in the 44th minute when Márk Koszta scored, cutting the deficit to 2-1 before the break. That goal changed the tone and gave the visitors a path back into the contest.

The second half belonged increasingly to Vasas. Bence Pávkovics equalized in the 61st minute, completing the comeback from a two-goal deficit. The match remained physical as Bence Batik was cautioned in the 57th minute, Márk Kovácsréti in the 69th, Ádám Lang in the 73rd and Pávkovics in the 80th. With the game appearing headed toward a draw, Vasas struck in the first minute of stoppage time. Bence Pethő scored to put the visitors ahead 3-2, silencing the home crowd and shifting all late pressure onto Debreceni VSC.

Vasas then sealed the result deep into added time. Milán Tóth scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time to make it 4-2. The home side could not protect its early two-goal lead. The closing minutes produced a flurry of cards: Csanád Dénes was booked in the fifth minute of stoppage time, Gergo Tercza in the sixth and Tóth in the seventh. Tóth, a forward, finished with 90 minutes played, one goal and a yellow card. Pávkovics, a midfielder, also played 90 minutes, scored once and was booked. Their contributions were central to a Vasas side that turned an early deficit into a late victory.
