ADO '20 vs Lisse

HEEMSKERK, Netherlands (Interstat) — Jilani Helder scored twice to lift ADO ’20 to a 2-0 victory over Lisse on Wednesday in a Derde Divisie match at Sportpark De Vlotter Veld 1.

Helder, a forward, opened the scoring in the 36th minute on an assist from defender Oscar Wilffert. He added an insurance goal in the 69th minute. Wilffert was shown a yellow card in the 45th minute, just before halftime. The booking was the only one of the match.

The victory improved ADO ’20 to 12 wins, four losses and seven draws in the Derde Divisie and 12-4-7 across all competitions. Lisse dropped to 19-7-8 in league play and 20-7-8 overall.

Lisse had entered the midweek contest with strong recent form. In its previous five matches, the team won four times: a 3-1 victory over Scheveningen on May 23, a 3-2 win against RBC on May 16, a 2-0 shutout of UNA on May 10 and a 2-0 victory over Kloetinge on Feb. 7. The only loss in that stretch came April 25 when Rijnvogels defeated Lisse 4-1. Lisse also played to a 1-1 draw with GOES on April 19.

ADO ’20’s recent results were mixed. The team lost 1-0 at VV DOVO on May 23 but followed with a 1-0 win at VV Scherpenzeel on May 16 and a 2-0 home victory over Staphorst on April 25. Two draws preceded those results: a 2-2 tie at USV Hercules on March 29 and a 0-0 draw at home against ROHDA Raalte on March 22.

The two teams will meet again Saturday, May 30, at Lisse in another Derde Divisie contest. Wednesday’s game was the first of that two-match series and gave ADO ’20 an edge heading into the return fixture.

Lisse had been the stronger side overall this season, with 19 league wins and 20 across all competitions. ADO ’20 had 12 wins in each category. Lisse also carried a superior goal differential, though specific figures were not released.

Helder’s two-goal performance was his first multi-goal game of the campaign. Wilffert’s assist was his first of the season. The defender’s yellow card was his third.

The match was scoreless until Helder’s 36th-minute strike. ADO ’20 carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. The second goal in the 69th minute effectively ended Lisse’s chances of a comeback. Lisse generated few clear scoring opportunities in the second half as ADO ’20’s defense held firm.

Wednesday’s game was played on a clear evening in Heemskerk, a city in the province of North Holland. Sportpark De Vlotter Veld 1 serves as ADO ’20’s home ground.

Lisse’s previous results this season included a 5-0 victory over Scheveningen in December and a 3-1 win against RBC in December. ADO ’20 recorded a 5-1 triumph over Hoogeveen in February and a 3-1 win against Huizen in February.

Interstat’s game simulator, which uses statistical models to forecast outcomes, had projected a 1-1 draw between the teams. Interstat’s ELO rating system, which accounts for team strength and recent form, gave Lisse a 72.70 percent probability to win.
