Croatia Berlin vs TUS Makkabi

BERLIN (Interstat) — Croatia Berlin will host TUS Makkabi on Saturday in an Oberliga matchup, with the visiting team seeking its first back-to-back wins against its city rival since November.

TUS Makkabi (9-9-5) enters the game following a 4-1 loss to Hansa Rostock on May 17, a defeat that snapped a two-match unbeaten run. The club’s recent form has been inconsistent — four wins in its past 10 games, including a 3-1 victory against ET Mahlsdorf on May 3 and a 1-0 win over Sparta Lichtenberg on April 19. However, TUS Makkabi also endured a three-match losing streak in March, dropping decisions to Tasmania Berlin (3-0), Anker Wismar (2-0) and TSG Neustrelitz (4-0).

Croatia Berlin (4-8-11) has struggled throughout the season, particularly in defense. The club has lost four consecutive matches, including a 3-1 defeat to Tennis Borussia Berlin on May 15 and a 1-0 loss at Berliner AK 07 on May 3. Croatia Berlin’s only win in its past 14 contests came against Anker Wismar on March 29, a 2-1 victory. The team also tied TSG Neustrelitz 2-2 on April 12.

The clubs met Nov. 30 in Berlin’s reverse fixture, with TUS Makkabi claiming a 2-1 win over Croatia Berlin. That result continued TUS Makkabi’s recent dominance in the series. In the previous season’s encounters, TUS Makkabi won both matches by identical 2-1 scores, while Croatia Berlin has not defeated TUS Makkabi since March 2023.

Croatia Berlin’s offensive struggles have been pronounced — the team has scored more than two goals in a match only twice this season, and has been shut out five times. TUS Makkabi’s attack has been more reliable, averaging 1.6 goals per game, but the club has also been prone to defensive lapses, allowing four or more goals in three matches this term.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for TUS Makkabi.
