Al Quwa Al Jawiya SC vs Zakho
BAGHDAD (Interstat) — Al Quwa Al Jawiya SC hosts Zakho on Tuesday, June 2, in an Iraqi League match that pits two clubs trending in opposite directions.
Al Quwa Al Jawiya enters on a two-match winning streak, most recently a 2-0 victory at Naft Maysan on May 28. The side has won four of its past five league contests, including a 2-1 decision over Al Talaba, a 2-0 shutout of Al Mina’a and a 2-1 result against Mosul. The only blemish in that stretch was a 3-0 loss at Al Karma on May 10.
Zakho, by contrast, has lost four of its last five outings. The visitors fell 2-1 to Erbil on May 28, their most recent match. That result followed a 2-2 draw at Al Mina’a, a 2-1 loss at Newroz, a 1-1 draw with Al Najaf, a 2-1 loss at Diyala and a 3-1 defeat at Al Karkh. Zakho’s last victory came April 23, a 2-1 win at Al Kahrabaa.
Tuesday’s fixture is the second meeting between the sides this season. In the previous encounter on Sept. 19, 2025, Zakho defeated Al Quwa Al Jawiya 2-1 in Baghdad. That result snapped a run of three straight wins for Al Quwa in the series.
Al Quwa Al Jawiya has been inconsistent at home, posting three wins, two draws and two losses in league matches this season. The squad has shown resilience, however, with four of its last five wins coming by a single goal.
Zakho’s struggles have been most pronounced on the road, where the team has managed only one win — at Amanat Baghdad on April 3 — in its last eight away matches. The visitors have been outscored 12-6 in those contests.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, a result that would extend Al Quwa’s unbeaten run to three matches and give Zakho a much-needed point in its bid to climb the Iraqi League table.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time at Baghdad’s Al Quwa Al Jawiya Stadium.
