Blumenthaler SV vs 1. FC Germania Egestorf/Langreder
OBERLIGA PREVIEW: BLUMENTHALER SV HOSTS EGESTORF/LANGREDER
BREMEN, Germany (Interstat) — Blumenthaler SV will try to regain its footing Wednesday when the club hosts 1. FC Germania Egestorf/Langreder in an Oberliga matchup at 7 p.m. local time.
Blumenthaler (9-2-0 in its past 11 league matches entering the contest) enters the game on a down note, having lost 2-0 at SV Todesfelde on Saturday. Despite that defeat, the club has been dominant this spring. It outscored opponents 28-5 during a five-match winning streak from mid-March through early May, including three clean sheets.
The club’s attack has been potent: Blumenthaler scored four or more goals in four of those five wins. A 5-0 victory against Habenhauser FV on May 9 was the largest margin. The defense, however, has conceded in three of its past four outings.
Wednesday’s visitors, Egestorf/Langreder, also are coming off a loss. They fell 4-1 at home Saturday to Eimsbuetteler, which snapped a run of three matches without a defeat. That stretch included a 2-0 win at FC Verden 04 on May 17 and a 2-1 victory at Holthausen-Biene on May 6.
Egestorf/Langreder (6-4-1 in its past 11) has shown resilience on the road. It has won three of its past four away matches, outscoring opponents 6-2 in those contests. The lone road loss came Mar. 22 at ET Braunschweig II.
A statistical projection from Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 2-1 home win for Blumenthaler.
Looking ahead, both teams face a quick turnaround: Egestorf/Langreder hosts SV Todesfelde on Sunday, while Blumenthaler travels to face Eimsbuetteler the same day.
Wednesday’s matchup marks the first of two scheduled meetings between the clubs this season.
