Sporting Oud-Heverlee vs Genk
OUD-HEVERLEE, Belgium (Interstat) — Genk visits Sporting Oud-Heverlee on Saturday in a First Division A clash, with the visitors looking to build on a recent unbeaten run and extend their dominance in the head-to-head series.
Genk (8-10-10, 34 points) enters the match following a 0-0 draw at home against Kampong Speu Province on Tuesday. That result followed a 0-0 stalemate at Standard Liege on May 16 and a 3-0 victory over Westerlo on May 10. The team has posted three clean sheets in its last five matches, but its overall season has been inconsistent, with only two wins in the last eight games.
Sporting Oud-Heverlee (4-8-16, 20 points) is coming off a 1-1 draw at Sporting Charleroi on Tuesday. That result snapped a three-match losing streak that included losses to Kampong Speu Province, Standard Liege and Westerlo. The team has managed just one win in its last 10 league matches, a 1-0 victory over Kampong Speu Province on March 22.
The two sides have met twice this season, with Genk winning both. On Nov. 30, Genk won 2-1 on the road, and on Aug. 15, Genk earned a 2-1 home victory. In those matches, Genk scored first each time and held off Oud-Heverlee’s second-half pressure.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 win for Genk, which would extend the visitors’ winning streak over Oud-Heverlee to three matches. Genk’s attack, led by a midfield that created numerous chances against Westerlo, will look to exploit an Oud-Heverlee defense that has conceded 12 goals in its last five home games.
Oud-Heverlee will rely on its counterattacking style, which produced an early goal against Charleroi. But the team’s inability to hold leads has been a recurring issue. In its last six matches, Oud-Heverlee has allowed equalizers or go-ahead goals in the final 20 minutes four times.
Genk’s recent road form has been mixed: two draws, one loss and one win in its last four away games. However, the team’s discipline in defense — allowing just two goals in the last three matches — could prove decisive.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. local time. The match will be played at Stadion Den Dreef in Oud-Heverlee. No injuries or suspensions have been reported for either side.
A win for Genk would move them into the top half of the table, while Oud-Heverlee needs points to avoid slipping further into the relegation zone.
