SALERNO, Italy (Interstat) — Salernitana and Union Brescia opened their Serie C seasons with a 1-1 draw Sunday at Stadio Arechi. Kees De Boer put Union Brescia ahead in the 53rd minute, finishing a buildup to give the visitors the advantage. Salernitana pressed for an equalizer throughout the second half and found it in stoppage time. Valerio Crespi scored in the 90th minute plus one to level the match. The result left both teams with identical records: 0 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw in the competition and across all competitions. The Serie C fixture was the first of the season for both clubs. Neither side managed a win in the contest, settling for a split of points. The draw came despite a late surge by the home side, which created several chances in the closing minutes at the Salerno venue.
