Zeljeznicar vs Siroki Brijeg
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Interstat) — Zeljeznicar hosts Siroki Brijeg on Thursday, May 21, in a Premijer Ženska Liga matchup that pits two sides desperate to build momentum late in the season.
Both teams enter on the heels of losses. Zeljeznicar fell 1-0 at ZBorac Banja on Saturday, May 16, after a stretch that had seen them win three of four. Siroki Brijeg also lost its most recent match, a 2-2 draw at FK Sarajevo on the same day — a result that snapped a two-game skid but left the visitors searching for their first win since April 26.
Thursday’s clash marks the third meeting between the clubs this season, and the brief head-to-head history offers little separation. On March 22, Zeljeznicar played Siroki Brijeg to a 1-1 draw at Siroki Brijeg. The previous encounter Dec. 4, 2025, ended 3-3 at Zeljeznicar. And on Sept. 21, 2025, Siroki Brijeg edged Zeljeznicar 1-0 at home. Neither team has won on the other’s ground this season.
Zeljeznicar’s form has been erratic. After a 3-0 win at Sloga Doboj on May 10, the side lost 2-0 at home to Zrinjski on May 1 and settled for a scoreless draw at FK Velež Mostar on April 25. The club’s defense has been solid at times — four clean sheets in its last eight matches — but the attack has struggled to convert opportunities. In its last three games, Zeljeznicar has scored just once.
Siroki Brijeg’s road form has been particularly troubling. The side has lost six of its last seven away matches, including a 3-0 defeat at FK Velež Mostar on April 21 and a 2-0 loss at Posusje on April 10. Its only away win in that stretch came March 15 at FK Sarajevo (1-0). At home, the team has been more competitive but still inconsistent.
The teams are separated by just two points in the league table, though neither is in serious title contention. Both will view Thursday’s match as a chance to build momentum for next season.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-0 win for Zeljeznicar, a margin the home side has achieved twice in its last five matches. Siroki Brijeg, meanwhile, has been shut out in five of its last seven games.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. local time at the Stadion Grbavica in Sarajevo.
