HERNING, Denmark (Interstat) — Brøndby IF defeated Midtjylland W 3-2 on Sunday at MCH Arena in the 1. Division season opener for both teams. Valdemar Andreasen, a midfielder, opened the scoring in the 12th minute and forward Mikel Krüger-Johnsen doubled the lead in the 23rd minute. Midtjylland W rallied from the two-goal deficit, pulling one back through substitute Mayckel Lahdo in the 66th minute and substitute Sho Fukuda equalizing in the 81st. Substitute Luis Binks scored the winner for Brøndby in the third minute of stoppage time. Nicolai Vallys, Julius Emefile, Benjamin Tahirović, Mads Bech Sørensen and Denil Castillo each recorded an assist. All five goals were scored by different players. Yellow cards were issued to Benjamin Tahirović, Mads Bech Sørensen, Julius Emefile, Nicolai Vallys and Denil Castillo. The match marked the first meeting between the two sides this season. Brøndby improved to 1-0 in the competition and across all competitions, while Midtjylland fell to 0-1.
