Diyala FC vs Amanat Baġdād SC
DIARBAKIR, Iraq (Interstat) — Diyala FC will host Amanat Baġdād SC on Tuesday, May 19, in an Iraqi League match that carries contrasting momentum for both clubs.
Diyala FC enters the contest on a two-game split after a 2-0 home loss to Al Shorta SC on May 15. The defeat ended a modest two-match winning streak, which included a 2-1 victory at Zakho on May 11 and a 4-0 thrashing of Al Qassim SC on March 31. Over their last 10 league outings, Diyala FC has posted five wins, three losses and two draws, with eight of those matches decided by a single goal or ending in shutouts.
The home side’s defense has been inconsistent – holding opponents scoreless in four of those 10 games (including shutouts against Naft and Naft Maysan) but also conceding four goals in a 4-1 loss to Mosul SC on April 26. Diyala FC’s attack has been modest, scoring two or more goals only three times in that span, with the 4-0 victory over Al Qassim representing their most lopsided offensive output.
Amanat Baġdād SC, meanwhile, arrives in Diyala after a difficult stretch. The visitors fell 1-0 at home to Al Kahrabaa SC on Friday, May 15, their third loss in four matches. That defeat followed a 2-1 loss at Al Karkh SC on May 11 and a 1-1 draw at Al Najaf SC on May 7. Over their last 10 matches, Amanat Baġdād SC has managed just two wins, with five losses and three draws. The club has struggled to find consistency, particularly on the road, where they have lost three of their last four away fixtures – including a 4-0 defeat at Al Mina’a SC on April 21.
Defensive lapses have plagued Amanat Baġdād SC, who have conceded two or more goals in five of their last 10 matches. Offensively, they have been held to a single goal or less in seven of those games, with the lone bright spot being back-to-back 2-2 draws against Al Qassim SC (May 2) and Al Zawra’a SC (April 26).
Tuesday’s match will mark the second meeting of the season between the clubs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Diyala FC.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time at Diyala Stadium.
