Colmar vs Wasquehal

COLMAR, France (Interstat) — Two teams searching for consistency will meet Saturday in a National 2 clash at Colmar Stadium, with Colmar hosting Wasquehal in a battle of mid-table sides desperate to close the season on a positive note.

Colmar enters the match after a humbling 6-0 defeat at Chambly-Oise on May 9, its heaviest loss of the season. The result snapped a five-match unbeaten run that included four draws and a 3-0 win over Saint-Pryve Saint-Hilaire FC in February.

Wasquehal, meanwhile, lost 2-0 at home to Entente SSG on the same day, extending a three-match losing streak in which it has been outscored 4-0. The visitors have not won since a 2-1 victory over Chantilly on March 7.

The matchup features two sides that have struggled to generate consistent offense. Colmar has scored just one goal in its last five matches, with that lone tally coming in a 1-1 draw at Bourges Foot on April 25. Wasquehal’s attack has been similarly stagnant, with only one goal in its past four games (Interstat) — a 1-0 win at FC Dieppois on May 2.

Saturday’s game comes as both teams sit in the middle of the National 2 table, with playoff hopes effectively extinguished. Colmar’s home form has been erratic: it has drawn four of its last six at Colmar Stadium, including stalemates against FC Thionville (0-0) and Bastia-Borgo (1-1). The home side’s only victory in front of its fans since February came against Saint-Pryve Saint-Hilaire.

Wasquehal’s road performance has been mixed. The visitors have won twice away this season (Interstat) — at Chambly-Oise (3-0) and at Chantilly (2-1) (Interstat) — but have lost five of their last seven trips, including a 4-1 defeat at FC Dieppois in February.

Colmar’s defense, which conceded six times last week, will need to tighten against a Wasquehal side that has produced only 18 goals all season, the second-fewest in the group. The hosts’ recent inability to hold leads has been a concern: three of their last four draws came after they had taken an early advantage.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 final score, reflecting the parity between two clubs that have combined for just seven wins in their last 20 outings.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. local time. Colmar will be without midfielder Antoine Rivière, who is nursing a hamstring injury, while Wasquehal captain Lucas Dubois returns from a one-match suspension.
