CAYENNE, French Guiana (Interstat) — Cosma hosts Loyola on Sunday in a Régional 1 matchup, with both teams looking to reverse recent fortunes.

Cosma (3-5-7 overall) enters the 3 p.m. local kickoff following a scoreless draw Thursday against d’Or de Mana. The home side has managed just two goals in its past three matches, following a 1-1 draw with Matoury on May 9 and a 2-2 result at Remire on April 11.

Loyola (2-6-8) arrives after a 4-1 defeat Saturday at Agouado, its fourth loss in five outings. The visiting side has been outscored 15-5 over that span, with its lone bright spot a 2-1 home win over ASC Armire on March 18.

Cosma’s season has been defined by inconsistency. The side scored five goals in a March 1 win at Olymp de Cayenne but has otherwise managed more than two goals in a match only twice. Defensively, Cosma has posted four clean sheets, most recently in Thursday’s draw.

Loyola has struggled to find the net, averaging 0.8 goals per match. The team has been shut out six times, including a 5-0 loss at Matoury in February and a 2-0 defeat to ASC Karib on April 12. Its only multiple-goal performances came in a 3-2 win over Sinnamary in December and the 2-1 victory over ASC Armire.

Sunday’s result could have implications for positioning in the 12-team league. Cosma sits three points ahead of Loyola in the standings entering the weekend.

Following Sunday’s fixture, Loyola travels to Remire on May 23 before a home match against d’Or de Mana on June 6. Cosma hosts Matoury on May 23 and visits Sinnamary on May 31. The teams meet again June 13 in a return fixture at Loyola.
