FK Sarajevo Hosts Siroki Brijeg in Premijer Ženska Liga Showdown

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Interstat) — FK Sarajevo will look to avenge a narrow defeat when it hosts Siroki Brijeg on Saturday, May 16, in a Premijer Ženska Liga match that could shift momentum in the tight Bosnian women’s football race.

Kickoff is set for the home pitch of FK Sarajevo, which enters the fixture after a 4-2 win at Rudar Prijedor on May 9. That result snapped a two-match losing streak for Sarajevo, which had fallen 1-0 at ZBorac Banja on May 3 and 1-0 at home to Siroki Brijeg on March 15.

Siroki Brijeg, meanwhile, arrives following a 1-0 loss at ZBorac Banja on May 10 — its fifth defeat in six league outings. The visiting side has managed just one win in its last 10 matches, a 1-0 home victory over Sloga Doboj on March 1.

Saturday’s match is the third meeting between the clubs this season. Siroki Brijeg holds a 2-0-1 advantage in those contests, including a 1-0 win in Sarajevo on March 15 and a 0-0 draw at home on Nov. 29, 2025. Sarajevo’s only win in the series came on Sep. 14, 2025, a 2-1 victory in Siroki Brijeg.

Recent form suggests a tightly contested affair. In its last five matches overall, FK Sarajevo has posted a 2-1-2 record, while Siroki Brijeg has gone 0-1-4 with a minus-6 goal differential. The visitors’ lone bright spot in that span was a 2-1 win over Zrinjski on April 26.

Key to Sarajevo’s attack will be maintaining the offensive rhythm that produced four goals against Rudar Prijedor. The home side has scored seven goals in its last three wins but has been held scoreless in four of its past six matches overall.

Siroki Brijeg’s defense has been porous, conceding 11 goals over its last five games. The visitors have scored only once in that stretch — a strike from open play against Zeljeznicar on March 22 that resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-0 victory for FK Sarajevo, a margin that would reverse the result from March 15. However, Siroki Brijeg has historically proven difficult to break down, having kept clean sheets in three of its last four meetings with Sarajevo.

With both teams jostling for position in the league table, Saturday’s matchup carries playoff implications. A Sarajevo win would level the season series and build momentum heading into the final stretch. For Siroki Brijeg, a victory would provide a much-needed boost after weeks of disappointing results.
