LIEGE, Belgium (Interstat) — Standard Liege and Genk played to a scoreless draw Saturday in a First Division A match at Stade Maurice Dufrasne.

Neither team could find the back of the net in a contest that ended 0-0. Both sides opened their season with identical records of zero wins, zero losses and one draw in league play and across all competitions.

Genk forward Dennis Eckert recorded the lone assist of the match, though it did not lead to a goal.

Three yellow cards were issued. Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi was booked in first-half stoppage time at 45-plus-2 minutes. Two cards came in the 73rd minute: Standard Liege’s Josué Kongolo and Genk’s Dennis Eckert.
