Sagrada Esperanca vs CA Lunda-Sul

LUANDA, Angola (Interstat) — Sagrada Esperanca hosts CA Lunda-Sul on Sunday in a Girabola matchup that pits two mid-table sides against each other at a pivotal point in the Angolan top-flight season.

The teams meet for the second time in eight months after playing to a 3-3 draw Sept. 20, 2025, in Lunda-Sul. That result extended Sagrada Esperanca’s recent dominance in the series: the home side has won three of the last five meetings, with two draws.

Sagrada Esperanca enters the match on a two-game winless streak. The side played to a 0-0 draw with Luanda City on May 6, following a 4-0 loss at Kabuscorp on May 3. That defeat was part of a tumultuous April: Sagrada lost 3-1 at Recr Do Libolo on April 18 and 2-0 at Sao Salvador Kongo on April 11, but sandwiched a 2-0 win over Redonda on May 2 and a 1-0 victory at Interclube on April 25.

Overall, Sagrada Esperanca has struggled for consistency, with a 5-4-6 record in its last 15 league games, including a 3-1 win over Acad Lobito on March 14 and a 4-1 loss at Petro de Luanda on Feb. 28.

CA Lunda-Sul comes in with slightly better recent form despite a 1-1 draw at Acad Lobito on Thursday. That result halted a two-game losing streak — a 3-0 defeat at Petro de Luanda on May 6 and a 1-0 loss to 1º de Maio on May 2. Lunda-Sul had won three straight before that slide: 2-0 at Guelson on April 26, 1-0 over Redonda on April 12 and 1-0 at Luanda City on April 9.

Lunda-Sul’s season has been a rollercoaster. The team has alternated wins and losses over its last 11 matches, with a 4-2-5 record in that span. Highlights include a 2-0 victory at Recr Do Libolo on March 14 and a 1-1 draw at Interclube on March 21. Low points include a 3-0 home loss to Kabuscorp on April 5 and a 1-0 defeat at 1 de Agosto on March 1.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 1-0 victory for Sagrada Esperanca, with an 82.30 percent probability of a home win. That forecast aligns with Sagrada’s advantage at home, where it has earned three of its five victories this season.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 3 p.m. local time. Both sides will be eager to climb the table as the Girabola season enters its decisive stretch.
