Police hosts Al Hilal SC Omdurman in National Soccer League clash

KIGALI, Rwanda (Interstat) — Police will host Al Hilal SC Omdurman on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in a National Soccer League matchup with playoff implications for both clubs. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time at Nyamirambo Stadium.

The two sides last met Nov. 26, 2025, playing to a 0-0 draw in Omdurman. That result extended a tight recent history between the teams, with the previous three encounters all ending in draws.

Al Hilal enters the match having won three straight league games. The visitors defeated Gasogi United FC 2-1 on Wednesday, May 13, and previously beat Muhanga 2-0 on May 10 and APR FC 4-0 on May 7. Over their last 10 matches, Al Hilal has posted a 7-1-2 record, with the only loss coming Feb. 28 against Mukura (3-1). The offensive surge has been notable: five goals against Gicumbi FC on March 3, four against APR, and three consecutive clean sheets entering Saturday.

Police, by contrast, has struggled for consistency. The home side drew 0-0 with Musanze FC on May 9 and followed a scoreless draw against Mukura on May 6. Over their last 10 games, Police has managed only three wins, with four draws and three losses. The defense has been relatively stingy, allowing just one goal in the past four matches, but the attack has produced only two goals in that span. Police’s last victory came April 25, a 2-0 win over Marine FC.

In head-to-head history, the teams have met five times in league play since 2024, with Al Hilal winning twice, Police once, and two draws. The lone Police win came April 6, 2025, a 1-0 result at home.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Al Hilal. However, Interstat’s ELO system gives Police a 50.10 percent probability of winning, suggesting a highly competitive contest.

For Police, forward Jean-Pierre Niyonzima is expected to lead the attack after scoring three goals in his last five starts. Midfielder Eric Rukundo, who has registered two assists in the current campaign, will be key in linking defense to offense.

Al Hilal’s top scorer, striker Hassan Mohamed, has netted eight goals in the league this season. Midfielder Omar Abdelrahman has contributed five assists and will be pivotal in breaking down Police’s disciplined backline.

Both teams are vying for position in the upper half of the table. A win for Police could move them closer to a top-four finish, while Al Hilal aims to maintain pressure on the league leaders.

Weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures near 22 degrees Celsius at kickoff.
