WORMS, Germany (Interstat) — VfR Wormatia 08 Worms will host Eppelborn on Saturday, May 16, in an Oberliga matchup as both teams aim to build momentum late in the season.

Worms enters the contest coming off a 3-2 victory at SV 1919 Ober-Olm on Sunday, May 10. That result snapped a three-game losing streak for the home side, which had dropped decisions to Montabaur (2-1), at Riegelsberg (8-1) and at FV Engers 07 (6-2) over the previous two weeks.

The team’s results this season have been inconsistent. Worms posted a 5-0 win over Arm Ludwigshafen on April 18 but managed only a scoreless draw against Gau-Odernheim on March 28. The club has also struggled away from home, with losses to Mainz 05 II (1-0), Auersmacher (1-0) and TuS Koblenz (3-2).

Eppelborn, conversely, arrives after a 2-0 loss at Emmelshausen-Karbach on Saturday, May 9. That defeat extended a difficult stretch for the visiting side, which has lost five of its last six matches. The lone bright spot came May 3, when Eppelborn routed TuS Koblenz 6-2 at home.

The team’s recent form includes heavy losses at Arm Ludwigshafen (7-0 on April 15) and at Pirmasens (6-1 on Nov. 29, 2025), as well as a 2-2 draw at Gau-Odernheim on March 22. Eppelborn has managed just two wins in its last 10 outings, with the other victory coming March 7 at SC 07 Idar-Oberstein (4-2).

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 3-2 victory for Worms. The company’s ELO system gives the home team a 72.60 percent probability to win.

Worms will have little time to rest, as it faces Saarbrucken on Sunday, May 17, one day after this contest. The home side also hosts Emmelshausen-Karbach on May 24.

Eppelborn’s next match is against R-W Koblenz on Saturday, May 23.

Saturday’s matchup carries significance in the Oberliga standings, with both clubs looking to string together results in the closing weeks of the season. Kickoff is set for the usual afternoon time slot.
