Regionalliga Preview: Deutz at DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck

MUNSTER, Germany (Interstat) — DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck will host Deutz on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in a Regionalliga matchup with both sides seeking to regain momentum after mixed recent results.

The teams last met Nov. 2, 2025, when DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck defeated Deutz 3-1 at home. That victory was part of a stretch in which DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck won four of five against Deutz in the head-to-head series, but the visitors have shown signs of recovery in recent weeks.

Deutz enters the game after a 3-3 draw with Bayer Leverkusen on May 10. That result ended a three-match losing streak in which Deutz fell 8-0 at Arminia Bielefeld on May 3 and dropped a 1-0 decision to Fortuna Koln on Dec. 7, 2025. Deutz’s season has been uneven: wins against Moers (4-1 on Oct. 5) and a 1-1 draw with Vorwarts Spoho 98 (Oct. 12), but also heavy losses to ET Hohkeppel (9-0 on Aug. 24) and Arminia Bielefeld (2-0 on Oct. 19).

DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck, meanwhile, comes off a 1-0 home loss to Arminia Bielefeld on May 10. That defeat followed a 2-0 win at Moers on May 3, but the team has struggled against top-tier competition. In its past seven matches, DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck has lost to Bayer Leverkusen (4-1 on Mar. 22), Borussia Dortmund (1-0 on Apr. 26) and Gutersloh (2-1 on Nov. 30). It also suffered a 4-0 defeat at Arminia Bielefeld on Oct. 26.

The club’s best stretch came in October and November, when it defeated Moers 1-0, beat Deutz 3-1, and posted a 2-0 win at Moers earlier this month. However, inconsistency has plagued the squad.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Deutz, which would mark its first win over DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck since a 4-1 result on Oct. 26, 2025. The simulator gives Deutz a slight edge based on recent form, though home-field advantage could factor into the outcome.
