TuS Issel vs SC 13 Bad Neuenahr

ISSEL, Germany (Interstat) — SC 13 Bad Neuenahr will visit TuS Issel on Sunday, May 17, in a Regionalliga matchup that pits one of the league’s hottest teams against a home side desperate to reverse a slump.

Bad Neuenahr (9-2-3, 29 points) enters the fixture on a four-match unbeaten run, most recently a 4-1 victory over SG 99 Andernach II on May 10. That win extended a stretch in which the visitors have scored 16 goals in their past four outings, with an average of four per game. The attack has been especially potent away from home: Bad Neuenahr netted six at FC Urbar on April 25 and five at Riegelsberg on March 1.

However, consistency has been an issue. The team has suffered losses to Montabaur (3-1 on March 15) and Mainz 05 II (2-0 on Nov. 16), and dropped a 2-1 decision to Elversberg on Oct. 19. Midseason struggles included back-to-back shutout defeats to SG 99 Andernach II and Elversberg in October. But since a 2-0 win at FC Urbar on Oct. 12, Bad Neuenahr has won six of its last eight matches, with the only blemishes being a 1-1 draw at Elversberg on May 3 and the Montabaur loss.

TuS Issel (4-1-9, 13 points) is trending in the opposite direction. The home side was shut out 4-0 by Saarbrücken on May 10, its fifth loss in six matches. That defeat followed a 7-1 win over SV 1919 Ober-Olm on May 3 — a rare bright spot in a season marked by heavy defeats, including 5-1 to Montabaur on April 26 and 4-0 to Saarbrücken on Oct. 26.

Issel’s defense has been porous, conceding 38 goals in 14 matches. The team has managed only one clean sheet all season, a 2-1 victory over SC Siegelbach on March 15. Scoring has also been inconsistent: while Issel routed Ober-Olm in early May and scored four against the same opponent in a 4-3 win on March 8, it has been held to one or zero goals in eight of its past 10 outings.

A simulation from Interstat projects a 4-1 victory for Bad Neuenahr, consistent with the visitors’ recent form and Issel’s defensive struggles. Bad Neuenahr’s high-pressure offense — led by a forward line that has produced multiple goal-scorers in recent weeks — will test an Issel back line that has allowed four or more goals in five matches this season.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time at Issel’s home ground.
