SAN JUAN DE TÍBAS, Costa Rica (Interstat) — Orlando Sinclair and Tomás Rodríguez scored early goals Wednesday night to lead Deportivo Saprissa to a 2-1 victory over Herediano in the Primera División opener at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Aymá. Sinclair struck in the ninth minute, and Rodríguez doubled the lead two minutes later. José González pulled one back for Herediano in the 23rd minute, but Saprissa held on.

The hosts improved to 22-9-7 across all competitions. Herediano fell to 15-9-6 overall. The teams last met Jan. 17, when Herediano won 2-0. Their previous two meetings ended in draws: 1-1 on Nov. 22, 2025, and 3-3 on Sept. 17, 2025.
