Gonsenheim vs SC 07 Idar-Oberstein

GONSENHEIM, Germany (Interstat) — Gonsenheim will look to reverse a recent slide when it hosts SC 07 Idar-Oberstein on Monday in an Oberliga matchup at a venue to be announced.

Both teams enter the May 25 fixture coming off losses in their most recent outings. Gonsenheim fell 3-2 at Diefflen on May 16, dropping its fourth match in the last five. The club has lost five of its last seven overall, including a 5-1 defeat at Pirmasens on May 1 and a 2-1 loss at Cosmos Koblenz on May 3. Gonsenheim’s lone win during that stretch came March 22, a 3-1 victory at FV Engers 07.

SC 07 Idar-Oberstein managed a 1-1 draw against Dudenhofen on May 16, snapping a four-match losing streak. Prior to that, the visitors had dropped three consecutive decisions, including a 3-1 loss at Hertha Wiesbach on May 9 and a 2-1 defeat at home to Gau-Odernheim on May 2. Idar-Oberstein has won only two of its last 10 contests, with the most recent victory coming March 21, a 2-1 result at R-W Koblenz.

Interstat’s game simulator projects Gonsenheim as the favorite, forecasting a 3-1 final score in the home side’s favor.

Gonsenheim’s recent scoring struggles have been evident. The club has been held to one goal or fewer in six of its last nine matches. Idar-Oberstein, meanwhile, has conceded at least three goals in five of its last eight outings, including a 6-0 blowout loss at Pirmasens on April 11.

The matchup marks the second-to-last game of the season for both clubs. Following Monday’s contest, Gonsenheim travels to Auersmacher on Saturday, May 30. Idar-Oberstein hosts Arm Ludwigshafen on the same day.

Monday’s game is scheduled to kick off at a time to be announced.
