VfB Homberg vs B-W Dingden

DUISBURG, Germany (Interstat) — VfB Homberg and B-W Dingden meet Sunday, May 17, in an Oberliga clash that brings together two sides trending in opposite directions as the German amateur season winds down.

The teams played to a 1-1 draw Nov. 30 in their most recent meeting, a result that snapped a three-match winning streak for B-W Dingden. Since that draw, Dingden has gone 6-4-1 in its last 11 league matches, while Homberg has struggled to a 2-6-3 mark in the same stretch.

B-W Dingden enters the match coming off a 3-1 loss at KFC Uerdingen 05 on May 2. The defeat ended a two-match winning streak for Dingden, which had beaten SV Biemenhorst 3-2 on April 19 and topped Sonsbeck 1-0 on April 12. Dingden has shown resilience on the road this season, posting a 5-3-1 record away from home. The visitors have been defensively stout, recording clean sheets in three of their last six matches, including a 1-0 win at SF Baumberg on April 1.

VfB Homberg, meanwhile, has dropped three of its last four matches. The home side lost 3-1 at Germ Ratingen on May 8, following a 5-3 home defeat to Hilden on May 3. Homberg managed a 1-0 win over DJK Adler Union Essen-Frintrop on April 19, but that victory was sandwiched between losses to Hilden and St Tonis 11/20, which won 3-0 on April 2. Homberg has struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring multiple goals in just three of its last 11 matches while allowing two or more goals in seven of those contests.

The simulator projection from Interstat forecasts a 2-1 victory for B-W Dingden, which would move the visitors further up the Oberliga table. For Homberg, a win would provide a much-needed boost after a disappointing stretch.

Sunday’s match marks the second meeting between the clubs this season. Both teams will be looking to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time at Homberg’s home ground.
