Pachuca vs Pumas UNAM
LIGA MX PREVIEW: PACHUCA VS. PUMAS UNAM
MEXICO CITY (Interstat) — Pachuca hosts Pumas UNAM on Thursday, May 14, in a Liga MX clash with both teams riding momentum from recent victories.
Pachuca enters after a 1-0 win at Toluca on May 3, a result that extended the Tuzos’ strong late-season form. They have won four of their last six matches, including a 2-1 victory over Tigres UANL and a 4-2 triumph over Santos Laguna. However, the Tuzos suffered a 2-0 defeat to Pumas on April 25 in their most recent meeting. That result was part of an inconsistent stretch in which Pachuca also lost 3-1 at Tijuana but bounced back with wins over Monterrey and Cruz Azul. At home, Pachuca has been dangerous, scoring at least two goals in four of its last five outings.
Pumas UNAM arrives after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Club America on May 3. The result capped a strong run: Pumas has lost only once in its last eight games — a 1-0 setback against Monterrey on April 11. Before that draw with America, Pumas won four straight, including a 5-0 demolition of America on April 25 — the same day it beat Pachuca 2-0. That victory over Pachuca is part of an encouraging trend for Pumas: they have won two of the last three head-to-head meetings. Prior to the April 25 win, Pachuca had beaten Pumas 3-1 on Nov. 20, 2025, and 3-2 on July 20, 2025. The series is competitive, with each team winning two of the last five encounters.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 Pachuca victory, and the company’s ELO system gives the Tuzos a 58.40% probability of winning. Pachuca will rely on its recent offensive output, while Pumas will aim to replicate its disciplined defensive performance from the April 25 shutout.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. local time at Estadio Hidalgo.
