PRETORIA (Interstat) — Aubrey Modiba’s 37th-minute free kick lifted Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-0 victory over AS FAR on Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in a CAF Champions League match. Modiba, a defender, scored the lone goal, while substitute Nolan Mbemba provided the assist. Mbemba also received a yellow card in the 82nd minute.

Mamelodi Sundowns improved to 5 wins, 1 loss and 4 draws in the competition and 7-2-5 overall across all competitions. AS FAR fell to 4-2-5 in the Champions League and identical 4-2-5 overall. The defeat snapped a two-match win streak for the Moroccan side, which had beaten RS Berkane 2-0 on April 11 and drawn with Pyramids FC 1-1 on March 13. Mamelodi Sundowns entered on a three-match unbeaten run, including a 3-0 win over Stade Malien de Bamako on March 13.
