LARNACA, Cyprus (Interstat) — Jasin Assehnoun scored in the 59th minute and Jose Romo netted the winner in the 80th as Omonia Aradippou beat Akritas 2-1 on Saturday in a Cypriot first division match at Stadio Antonis Papadopoulos. Stavros Georgiou had equalized for Akritas in the 71st minute, but the visitors could not complete the comeback. Omonia Aradippou improved to 9-10-1 in league play and 10-11-2 across all competitions. Akritas dropped to 7-15-3 in the division and 7-16-3 overall. The victory gave Omonia Aradippou its second win over Akritas this season, following a 2-0 triumph on Feb. 9. Akritas had won the previous meeting 1-0 on Oct. 26, 2025. Both teams entered the match after recent results: Omonia Aradippou lost 2-1 at AE Olympiakos Lefkosias on May 1, while Akritas defeated Ethnikos Achna 1-0 the same day. The home side took an early second-half lead through Assehnoun’s close-range finish, but Georgiou answered with a shot from distance. Romo then headed in a corner to secure the points. The match was part of the regular season in the Cypriot first division, with Omonia Aradippou seeking to climb the standings while Akritas remains near the bottom.
