MS Korneuburg vs Bischofshofen

AP Sports Preview

VIENNA (Interstat) — MS Korneuburg hosts Bischofshofen on Saturday, May 30, in a Regionalliga matchup that pits two of Austria’s third-division sides in strong late-season form.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time at the home ground of Korneuburg.

Bischofshofen enters the contest following a 4-1 victory over Lauterach on May 16, part of an 8-2-8 record over its last 18 league matches. The visitors have scored at least three goals in six of their last 11 outings, including a 3-1 win over SV Seekirchen on March 28 and a 4-1 result against Lustenau on May 9. However, Bischofshofen has also been prone to inconsistency, suffering shutout losses to Kufstein, Kitzbühel and a 4-0 defeat against Wacker Innsbruck on May 2.

MS Korneuburg arrives with momentum after a 3-1 victory at Lauterach on May 22, its third win in four matches. The home side has been prolific offensively, scoring five goals in wins over Pinz Saalfelden and Wals-Grunau in April and a 4-1 victory against Lustenau on May 16. Korneuburg’s only recent setback came in a 2-1 loss at Wacker Innsbruck on May 8.

The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in their most recent meeting Oct. 25 in Bischofshofen.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-2 draw for Saturday’s fixture.

Both teams enter the match with heavy workloads. Bischofshofen will have a short turnaround before hosting Schwaz on June 3. MS Korneuburg faces a similar schedule, traveling to Schwaz on June 6.

In a tightly contested Regionalliga table, Saturday’s result could prove critical for positioning as the season enters its final weeks.
