Ischia vs Olbia

ISCHIA, Italy (Interstat) — Ischia hosts Olbia on Sunday in a Serie D clash that carries playoff implications for both sides, with the match scheduled for a 3 p.m. local kickoff at Stadio Enzo Mazzella.

The game pits two teams separated by four points in the standings, though neither has been dominant in recent weeks. Ischia enters with a 1-0 victory at Nocerina on May 3, snapping a four-match losing streak that included a 4-0 home defeat to Cynthia and a 3-0 loss to Anzio. The Ischitani have been inconsistent at home, winning only three of their last eight league fixtures on their own pitch.

Olbia arrives after a 2-2 draw at Costa Orientale on May 3, extending its own uneven run. The Sardinians have alternated results: a 2-1 win at Anzio on April 26, a 3-2 victory over Trastevere on April 19, then a 4-1 loss at Scafatese on April 12. They have scored multiple goals in three of their last five matches but have conceded in four of those same games.

The teams are familiar with each other, having met twice this season. In the most recent encounter on March 15, Olbia defeated Ischia 3-1 on the road, a result that reversed the earlier 1-1 draw on Nov. 2 in Olbia. That March win featured two second-half goals from Olbia after the visitors had equalized early in the second period.

Both sides have struggled to find consistent finishing. Ischia has been held scoreless in five of its last eight matches, while Olbia has scored at least once in seven of its last nine but has dropped points against lower-table opponents.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, a result that would do little to separate the two teams in the mid-table battle. A victory would be crucial for either side to climb toward the top half of the Serie D group standings.

Ischia will look to midfielder Raffaele D’Ambrosio, who scored the winner at Nocerina, to spark an attack that has managed only three goals in its last five matches. Olbia will rely on forward Andrea Cossu, who has scored in two of the last three games and netted the equalizer in the 1-1 draw at Ischia earlier this season.

Sunday’s match also marks the final home game of the regular season for Ischia, which will aim to give its supporters a positive result after a series of disappointing performances in front of its own fans.
