Cairese 1919 vs Asti
CAIRO MONTENOTTE, Italy (Interstat) — Cairese 1919 hosts Asti on Sunday, May 10, in a Serie D matchup that a computer simulation by Interstat projects will end in a 1-1 draw.
Both teams enter the contest looking to rebound from losses on May 3. Cairese 1919 fell 1-0 at Gozzano. Asti dropped a 4-1 decision at Club Milano.
Asti’s recent form has been mixed. The visiting side is 2-2-2 in its last six matches. After the loss to Club Milano, Asti drew 1-1 with Ligorna on April 26, followed a 2-1 win at Sestri Levante on April 19 and a 2-2 draw at Imperia on April 2.
The visitors have shown resilience on the road. In addition to the result at Sestri Levante, Asti earned a 2-0 victory at Nova Romentin on Feb. 15 and a 1-0 win at Sanremese on March 1. However, road losses at AS Biellese 1902 (1-0 on Feb. 22) and Chisola Calcio (2-1 on Feb. 8) highlight inconsistency away from home.
Cairese 1919’s form has been similarly uneven. The home side is 2-2-2 in its last six outings. After the Gozzano loss, Cairese 1919 defeated Valenzana 4-0 on April 26, followed by a 2-0 loss at Vado on April 19 and a 1-0 home defeat to Club Milano on April 12.
At home, Cairese 1919 has shown flashes of strength. The team defeated Imperia 2-0 on March 29 and Celle Varazze 1-0 on Feb. 15. But home losses to Club Milano and a 0-0 draw with Ligorna on April 2 indicate a team that can struggle to find the net consistently.
The most recent head-to-head meeting, on Feb. 1, ended in a 1-1 draw at Asti. That result, along with the Interstat projection, suggests another tight contest.
Cairese 1919 will look to replicate its attacking performance from the Valenzana match. Asti will aim to tighten its defense after conceding four goals to Club Milano.
The match is part of the Group A schedule in Serie D, Italy’s fourth-tier league. Kickoff is Sunday.
