MC Oran vs ASO Chlef

ORAN, Algeria (Interstat) — MC Oran hosts ASO Chlef on Thursday, May 7, in an Algerian Ligue 1 matchup that pits a home side looking to build momentum against a visiting team with strong recent form.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. local time at Ahmed Zabana Stadium.

ASO Chlef enters riding a two-match winning streak, most recently a 1-0 victory at Oued Akbou on April 17. Overall, Chlef has won seven of its last 11 league matches, including a 2-1 result at USM Alger on April 5. The team’s only loss in that span came April 10, a 2-1 defeat at ES Ben Aknoun.

Chlef’s defense has been solid, recording clean sheets in four of its last six outings. The club also handled MC Oran in their most recent meeting, a 1-0 home win on Dec. 18.

MC Oran comes off a 2-1 win at Kabylie on April 29, snapping a two-match winless skid. Before that, Oran lost 3-0 at ES Setif on April 17 and defeated MB Rouisset 2-1 at home on April 9.

At home this season, Oran has been inconsistent, going 3-2-2 in its last seven matches at Ahmed Zabana. The team has shown resilience, however: three of its past four wins have come by a single goal.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.

Both teams are fighting for position in the middle of the Ligue 1 table. Oran will look to maintain the confidence gained from its road win, while Chlef aims to extend its strong run and avenge its only recent blemish.

Key for Oran will be breaking through a Chlef defense that has allowed more than one goal just once in its last 10 matches. Chlef, meanwhile, will need to replicate its efficiency in tight matches: five of its past six wins have been by a single goal.

Thursday’s match is the second of two regular-season meetings between the clubs. Chlef leads the season series 1-0.
