AVIRON BAYONNAIS vs. BORDEAUX
BAYONNE, France (Interstat) — Aviron Bayonnais hosts Bordeaux on Saturday, May 2, in a National 2 matchup that carries playoff implications for both sides. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.
Bordeaux enters on a three-match winning streak after a 4-1 road victory over Montlouis on April 25. The club has won four of its last five, with the lone defeat a 3-2 loss at Lorient on April 11. Bordeaux also posted consecutive shutouts against Stade Poitevin (1-0) and Saint-Malo (1-0) in February, and edged Dinan Lehon 3-1 on April 18.
Aviron Bayonnais also won its most recent match, a 2-0 decision at Avranches M-S-M on April 25. Bayonne has been stingy defensively, recording clean sheets in three of its last four games, including scoreless draws with US Granville and St-Colomban Locmine. The club’s only loss in that span was a 2-1 defeat at Montlouis on April 4.
The teams met Jan. 10, with Bordeaux winning 1-0 at home. That result extended Bordeaux’s recent dominance in the series; Bayonne has not beaten Bordeaux in their past three meetings across all competitions.
Bordeaux’s road form has been uneven this spring, with wins at Dinan Lehon and St-Colomban Locmine but a 1-0 loss at La Roche-sur-Yon VF on March 21. Bayonne will look to exploit home-pitch momentum, having outscored visitors 7-1 in its last three home fixtures.
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday evening.
