Beauvais vs Haguenau

BEAUVAIS, France (Interstat) — Beauvais will host Haguenau on Saturday, May 2, in a National 2 clash at Stade Pierre Brisson, with both sides jockeying for position in the French fourth-tier group standings.

The teams met Jan. 31, when Beauvais won 3-2 at Haguenau. That result snapped a three-match unbeaten run for Haguenau and gave Beauvais a rare bright spot in an otherwise inconsistent season.

Haguenau arrives on a two-match winning streak. It beat Furiani-Agliani 2-1 at home on April 25, following a 4-0 victory at Epinal on April 18. Before that, Haguenau defeated Saint-Pryve Saint-Hilaire FC 3-1 on April 11 and drew 0-0 at Biesheim on April 3. Over its last 10 matches, Haguenau has posted seven wins, two draws and one loss, outscoring opponents 16-5.

Beauvais has been less reliable. It won 2-0 at Wasquehal on April 25, a result that halted a six-match winless run. That run included a 0-0 draw with Chambly-Oise on April 18, a 2-0 home loss to Bastia-Borgo on April 11 and a 1-1 draw at FC Thionville on March 29. Beauvais has managed only three wins in its last 11 matches, with five draws and three losses.

Defensively, Haguenau has been stout, keeping clean sheets in five of its last seven matches. Beauvais has conceded in six of its last eight, though it has shown resilience at home, where it has lost only twice since January.

Saturday’s match could hinge on whether Beauvais can replicate its January performance against Haguenau or whether the visitors’ recent form will prevail. The Interstat game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. local time.
