FK Botev Vratsa vs FK Spartak 1918 Varna
SOFIA, Bulgaria (Interstat) — FK Botev Vratsa will host FK Spartak 1918 Varna on Saturday, May 2, in a Bulgarian First League matchup that pits two mid-table sides against each other at Stadion Hristo Botev.
The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in their most recent meeting on Aug. 1, 2025, in Varna. That result extended a pattern of tight contests between the clubs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-0 victory for the home side this time.
Botev Vratsa enters the match unbeaten in its past two league outings. The club played to a 1-1 draw at Slavia Sofia on April 26, three days after a 3-2 home win over Lokomotiv 1929 on April 14. Before that, Botev Vratsa lost 1-0 at home to CSKA 1948 Sofia on April 10 and drew 0-0 at Septemvri Sofia on April 6.
Overall, Botev Vratsa has shown resilience but inconsistency. Since late February, the team has alternated wins, draws and losses. A 1-0 home victory over Arda Kardzhali on March 7 was followed by a 1-0 defeat at CSKA Sofia on March 4. A 0-0 draw at Beroe on Feb. 28 and a 1-0 loss at Cherno More on Feb. 20 preceded a 0-0 draw at Dobrudzha on Feb. 16. A 3-2 loss at Arda on Feb. 11 rounded out the recent stretch.
Spartak Varna, meanwhile, is looking to snap a two-match winless run. The team played to a 0-0 draw at Septemvri Sofia on April 16, following a 1-0 victory at Dobrudzha on April 10. That win, however, came after a heavy 5-0 loss at Botev Plovdiv on April 4. Spartak also suffered a 5-1 home defeat to league leader Ludogorets Razgrad on March 19.
Earlier this season, Spartak Varna showed flashes of form. A 1-0 win at Montana on March 3 was preceded by a 1-0 loss at Arda Kardzhali on Feb. 27. The team drew 1-1 at Lokomotiv Plovdiv on Feb. 21 and 2-2 at home against Lokomotiv 1929 on Feb. 13. A 0-0 draw at Cherno More on Feb. 7 and a 2-0 home loss to Botev Plovdiv on Dec. 13 followed. The season included a 3-1 loss at Levski Sofia on Dec. 7.
Both sides have struggled for consistency in front of goal. Botev Vratsa has managed just eight goals in its past 10 league matches, while Spartak Varna has scored only six in the same span. Defensively, Botev Vratsa has kept four clean sheets in that stretch, Spartak Varna three.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. local time. The match will be the second of two league fixtures Saturday in Bulgaria’s top division.
