Poggibonsi vs Scandicci

POGGIBONSI, Italy (Interstat) — Poggibonsi and Scandicci will meet Sunday in Serie D, with both teams looking to bounce back from losses in their most recent outings.

The matchup, set for May 3 at Poggibonsi’s home ground, pits two sides separated by just one point in the standings. Poggibonsi enters after a 3-2 defeat at Cannara on April 26, while Scandicci fell 2-1 at home to Follon Gavorrano on the same day.

Their most recent head-to-head, Dec. 21, ended 1-1 at Scandicci. That draw extended a pattern of tight encounters: each of the last five meetings has been decided by one goal or ended level.

Scandicci (8-8-10 in their last 26 games) has shown resilience, posting a 4-3 win at Tau Altopascio on April 2 and a 2-1 victory at Camaiore Calcio on March 22. However, the visitors have struggled for consistency, with draws in five of their last eight matches. Their record away from home includes a 1-0 win at Orvietana Calcio on April 12 and a 1-1 draw at Cannara on April 19.

Poggibonsi (9-7-10) has been difficult to beat at home, where they have not lost since Feb. 8. Their recent form includes a 0-0 draw with Tau Altopascio on April 19 and a 1-1 draw at Camaiore on April 12. They have scored in six of their last nine games but have also conceded in seven of those.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, while the ELO system gives Scandicci a 54.90 percent probability of winning. Poggibonsi’s defense, which kept clean sheets against San Don Tavarnelle (1-0 on Feb. 22) and Foligno (1-0 on Feb. 15), will be tested by a Scandicci attack that has scored in six of its last seven matches.

Kickoff is at 3 p.m. local time.
