SOCCER PREVIEW: CHIETI vs. MACERATESE

CHIETI, Italy (Interstat) — Chieti hosts Maceratese on Sunday, May 3, in a Serie D clash that offers the home side a chance to avenge a humbling defeat earlier this season.

Maceratese routed Chieti 4-0 on Dec. 21, 2025, in the teams’ most recent meeting. That result looms large as both sides jockey for position in the Italian fourth-division table.

Chieti, meanwhile, arrives with momentum after a 3-2 victory at Vigor Senigallia on April 26. Chieti’s recent form has been solid, with four wins, two draws and one loss in its past seven matches.

Chieti has shown resilience, particularly at home, but has struggled at times against top-half opposition. The team’s 4-1 loss at Ancona on Feb. 15 and a 3-0 defeat at AS Ostiamare Lido Calcio on April 2 underscore occasional defensive fragility.

Maceratese has been inconsistent, with a 4-0 win at Sammaurese on Feb. 1 standing as a high point. However, losses to Termoli Calcio and L’Aquila 1927 in March and February, respectively, suggest vulnerability on the road.
