AP Sports Preview: Fortune Sacco vs. Mwatate United

NAIROBI, Kenya (Interstat) — Fortune Sacco hosts Mwatate United on Saturday, May 2, in a Kenya Super League matchup that pits the league’s hottest team against a visiting side desperate to halt a downward spiral.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time at a venue to be announced.

Fortune Sacco enters the contest on a three-match unbeaten run (2-0-1) and has not lost in its last four dating to March 28. The home side earned a 1-1 draw at Kibera Black Stars on April 25, a result that followed a 2-1 victory at Kisumu All Stars on April 19 and a 4-0 romp over Darajani Gogo FC on April 5. Fortune Sacco’s offense has been prolific, scoring at least twice in three of its last four outings, including a 9-0 demolition of Kabati Youth FC on March 7.

Mwatate United, meanwhile, arrives on a three-match losing streak. The visitors fell 3-2 at Michael Olunga FA on April 25, their fifth defeat in six games (1-0-5). Mwatate United’s lone bright spot during that stretch was a 3-1 home win over Vihiga United on April 18, but the team has otherwise struggled, dropping results to Talanta (2-1), Soy United (2-0) and Nzoia Sugar FC (3-1) over the past month. The club has been outscored 10-5 in its last six matches.

The teams met once this season Dec. 12, 2025, when Fortune Sacco earned a 3-1 road victory at Mwatate United.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a dominant performance by the home side, forecasting a 5-1 final score. Interstat’s ELO system gives Fortune Sacco a 90.50 percent probability to win, underscoring the gap in current form.

Fortune Sacco sits near the top of the Super League table and will look to maintain momentum with key fixtures ahead, including a visit from Migori Youth on May 3.
