CIUDAD VICTORIA, Mexico (Interstat) — Club Jaiba Brava hosts Cancún on Thursday night in a Liga de Expansión MX matchup, with both teams looking to build momentum after recent results.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. local time at Estadio Profesor Eugenio Alvizo Porras.

Jaiba Brava enters the match after a 2-0 win over CA La Paz on Wednesday, April 22. The victory extended the home side’s unbeaten run to three matches, following a 1-0 win against Morelia on April 19 and a 2-1 victory at Alebrijes de Oaxaca on April 10.

Cancún, meanwhile, played to a 1-1 draw at Tapatío on Thursday, April 23. The result snapped a two-match winning streak that included a 2-1 victory at Leones Negros on April 19 and a 2-1 win over Atlante on April 11.

The head-to-head series favors Jaiba Brava, which has won the last two meetings — both by 2-1 scores. The most recent matchup came Feb. 28, when Jaiba Brava won 2-1 at Cancún. The previous meeting, on Sept. 20, 2025, also ended with Jaiba Brava winning 2-1 at home.

Cancún’s form has been inconsistent. The visitors have alternated results over their last six matches, posting three wins, two losses and a draw. They suffered a 4-1 defeat at Celaya on April 10 but bounced back with a 3-1 win at Correcaminos UAT on April 3.

Jaiba Brava has been solid defensively, allowing just one goal in their last three matches. Overall this season, the team has recorded four wins, two draws and four losses in their last 10 outings, according to league data.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 1-1 draw for Thursday’s contest, suggesting a tightly contested affair. Both teams have shown the ability to score, with Cancún netting 16 goals over its last 10 matches and Jaiba Brava scoring 13 in the same span.

Thursday’s match is part of the regular season schedule for the second-tier Mexican league. The winner will gain valuable points in the standings, while a draw would leave both sides near the middle of the table.

The game will be broadcast locally and streamed online.
