Pirmasens vs Dudenhofen

PIRMASENS, Germany (Interstat) — Pirmasens hosts Dudenhofen on Saturday, May 2, in an Oberliga clash that pits a dominant home side against a visiting team desperately seeking its first win in five matches.

Kickoff at Sportpark Husterhöhe is set for 2 p.m. local time.

Pirmasens enters the contest on a high after routing Gonsenheim 5-1 on Friday. That result extended a mixed run for the home side, which has alternated wins and losses in its past six league outings. The club’s recent form includes a 6-0 thrashing of SC 07 Idar-Oberstein on April 11, but also a 2-1 loss to Baumholder and a 2-0 defeat at Hertha Wiesbach — both on April 25.

On the other side, Dudenhofen is mired in a four-game winless streak. The visitors played to a scoreless draw at home against Auersmacher on Friday, their third draw in the past four matches. Prior to that they settled for 0-0 against Morlautern on April 25 and 1-1 with TuS Koblenz on March 28. Dudenhofen’s last victory came March 21, a 3-0 win over Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde.

The head-to-head history favors Pirmasens. The teams met Oct. 18, when Pirmasens won 3-0 at Dudenhofen. That result marked the only meeting between the two this season.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 final score in favor of Pirmasens. According to Interstat’s ELO rating system, the home side holds a 93.6% probability of winning.

Pirmasens has shown offensive firepower, scoring at least three goals in four of its past six matches. The club’s attack is boosted by a 4-3 win over Emmelshausen-Karbach on March 28 and a 2-1 victory at Kaiserslautern II on March 13. However, defensive lapses have plagued the side, as seen in the 2-1 loss to Baumholder and a 3-2 defeat at Emmelshausen-Karbach in November.

Dudenhofen’s struggles stem largely from a lack of finishing. The visitors have scored just two goals in their past five matches, both coming in a 2-4 loss at Gonsenheim on Dec. 7. Their only other win this calendar year was a 1-0 decision at Emmelshausen-Karbach on Nov. 29.

The Oberliga is the fifth tier of German football. Saturday’s match carries playoff implications, with Pirmasens seeking to solidify its position near the top of the table. Dudenhofen aims to snap its rut and climb away from the relegation zone.

Both teams come off Friday fixtures, adding a quick turnaround to the narrative. Pirmasens will rely on home support and recent scoring momentum. Dudenhofen will need to crack a defense that yielded one goal in its last two home matches.

Interstat’s projection and ELO data underscore a steep uphill climb for the visitors.
