Trabzonspor hosts Goztepe in Süper Lig clash Saturday

ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Trabzonspor welcomes Goztepe on Saturday in a Süper Lig matchup at Papara Park, with both sides looking to build momentum in the Turkish top flight.

The match, scheduled for May 2, 2026, features a home side seeking to rebound from a 2-1 loss at Konyaspor on Monday. That result ended Trabzonspor’s four-match unbeaten run, which included a 2-1 victory over Galatasaray and draws with Rams Başakşehir FK and Alanyaspor.

Trabzonspor has been solid defensively in recent weeks, allowing more than one goal only once in its last six matches. The club’s attack has been consistent, scoring in nine of its previous 10 contests. A 3-0 win over Samsunspor in February highlighted the team’s offensive potential.

Goztepe comes in off a 2-0 victory against Antalyaspor on April 25, snapping a three-match winless streak. The visitors have struggled to find consistency, with draws against Kocaelispor, Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor, along with losses to Galatasaray and Besiktas.

The head-to-head history favors Trabzonspor. The teams last met Dec. 7, 2025, when Trabzonspor won 2-1 at Goztepe. The simulator at Interstat projects a 2-1 home victory.

Goztepe’s attack has been intermittent. The club managed only one goal across draws with Kayserispor, Konyaspor and Eyupspor in February and March, before scoring three against Kasimpasa. A 4-0 loss to Besiktas in February exposed defensive vulnerabilities.

Trabzonspor’s depth has been tested. The club relied on late goals in victories over Rizespor and Eyupspor, and benefited from a strong defensive display against Galatasaray. The loss at Konyaspor, however, showed lapses in transition that Goztepe may exploit.

Saturday’s result holds implications for both clubs’ positioning. Trabzonspor travels to Besiktas on May 9, while Goztepe hosts Gaziantep FK the same day.
